Care home worker is caught punching 89-year-old dementia patient ELEVEN times as he changed his diaper after the man's family installed a camera when they couldn't work out why he was suffering injuries

As 89-year-old Georges Karam lay immobile in his bed at the Garry J Armstrong long-term care home in Ottawa, Canada, when personal support worker Jie Xiao entered his room on May 8.
Footage obtained by the Ottawa Citizen shows Xiao becoming visibly frustrated as he changed Mr Karam’s diaper, yanking him back and forward before firmly pushing him down.
A visibly upset Mr Karam then make two failed swipes at Xiao, who responded with eleven successful strikes of his own.
Delivering a series of rapid blows, Xiao can be seen taunting the elderly patient, while the sound of his fist making contact is clearly audible on the video.
Xiao then tucks his victim back under a series of sheets and leaves the room.
Minutes after the sickening display of elder abuse, Xiao returned to the room and could be seen gesturing at a frightened and bewildered Mr Karam, indicating his intention to strike him in the face.
After forming a fist and pointing at his own face, Xiao then walks beside his infirmed patient and closes his eyelids with his fingers before patting him on the head.
After a string of unexplained injuries to residents at the aged care facility, Mr Karam’s concerned grandson Daniel Nassrallah told the Citizen installed a high definition camera in his room for his own protection.
The camera was not hidden and was no secret to the aged care workers.
After checking in on his grandfather, Mr Nassrallah was left in disbelief at what he found.

“I literally stood up and fell down, my legs gave way because I didn’t know how to respond to this,” he told the newspaper.
“We have a camera on him, and even that doesn’t deter him. To me, that’s mind blowing.”
He immediately notified his uncles and siblings before making his way to the facility, dialling police on the way there.
As he and his two brothers moved into the elevator, one of them spotted Xiao leaving through the front door before stopping him and asking him to come upstairs.
Police arrested Xiao on the spot and last Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to assault.
A sentencing hearing is expected to be held later this year.
