Shailene Woodley
The Divergent and Snowden actress was arrested on October 10, 2016 for criminal trespassing while she was protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline in Bismarck, N.D.
Vince Vaughn
In April of 2001, Vince Vaughn was arrested in a North Carolina town after a massive brawl outside a New Hanover County bar. Vaughn, who was in town shooting the movie Domestic Disturbance, was drinking with Steve Buscemi. Vaughn and another bar patron reportedly nearly came to blows, and Buscemi attempted to play peacemaker. Buscemi was stabbed six times for his trouble, and Vaughn was arrested for fighting in public.
Woody Harrelson
Woody Harrelson had yet to land the role on Cheers that would make him a star when this mugshot was taken in October of 1982. The actor was busted in Columbus, Ohio after apparently taking down a few too many cocktails and literally dancing in the street. When police tried to arrest him, he jumped on top of a moving police van and kicked at one officer who tried to pull him down. He was was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and resisting arrest.
Michelle Rodriguez
There's all different kinds of expressions you can have in a mug shot. Michelle Rodriguez settles for withering contempt in this one. The star was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Honolulu in December of 2005, after police spotted Rodriguez and fellow Lost star Cynthia Watros car weaving down a Hawaiian highway early one morning.
Josh Brolin
Nobody has ever accused Josh Brolin of not knowing how to have a good time. In July of 2008, the No Country Old Men star was in Shreveport, Louisiana filming the movie W, and decided to head to a local watering hole. When police arrived to deal with another bar patron who'd gotten a bit too sauced, Brolin tried to step in on the man's behalf. He got slapped in handcuffs and charged with interfering with police business for his trouble.
Mel Gibson
One of the more famous celebrity arrests around produced this pic, of a glassy-eyed Mel Gibson shortly before being booked on charges of drunken driving in Los Angeles back in July of 2006. This was after Gibson reportedly called a female police officer "sugar tits" and let a few anti-Semitic slurs fly while in the back of a cop car. You gotta hand it to him though -- for a man who just did grievous damage to his reputation and career, he looks good.
Kiefer Sutherland
Kiefer Sutherland gives the camera a look of steely determination after turning himself in to serve a 48-day-long jail sentence in December of 2007. The actor had pled no contest to charges of driving while intoxicated, the second time he'd faced such a charge in three years.
Heather Locklear
This deer-in-headlights pose happened shortly after Heather Locklear was arrested by the California Highway Patrol in September of 2008 on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription drugs. They were responding to a 911 call by a concerned motorist who saw the actress exit her vehicle and stumble into the street. Police found a disoriented Locklear sitting in her car, blocking a lane of traffic.
Robert Downey Jr.
The California Department of Corrections snapped this picture in August of 1999 while Robert Downey Jr. was serving time on a drug conviction. It was sadly not to be his last time behind bars -- he was arrested against in 2000 and 2001.
Bill Gates
Before he was one of the richest men in the world, Bill Gates was just a tech whiz kid who drove too fast. Here's a pic from his arrest in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1977. Gates was busted three separate times by the cops in Albuquerque in the late 70s, all for reportedly speeding around town in his Porsche 911.
James Brown
James Brown was and shall forever be the Godfather of Soul, but he'll also always be our Godfather of Mugshots. This pic was taken after Brown was arrested on domestic violence charges, after allegedly pushing his wife to the floor during an argument. Brown knew his way around a jail house -- at the age of 16, he was arrested and served three years in prison for robbery, and served another three following a high speed chase in 1998.
Matt Dillon
Matt Dillon can't drive 55, or anything even close to it. This mugshot was taken by Vermont police officers, after Dillon was caught going 106 miles per hour on Interstate 91 in January of 2009. You'd think a guy who starred in a movie called Crash would know better. More impressive: he hit that top speed in a rented Chevy Impala.
Dennis Hopper
Dennis Hopper was widely considered one of the biggest talents to come out of the late 60s and early 70s cinema, but by 1975 he was already beginning a long battle with drugs and alcohol. This mug shot, from a 1975 arrest in Taos, New Mexico, was after Hopper allegedly caused a small traffic accident and attempted to flee the scene.
Suzanne Somers
If you don't recognize Suzanne Somers in this picture, there's a reason for that: it was taken before she was famous. In March of 1970, Somers was arrested in San Francisco for attempting to pass bad checks totaling around $100. She avoided prosecution by agreeing to pay the amount back.
Sam Shepard
Sam Shepard is great at playing grizzled stoics, and he manages to pull off the same look here after getting arrested in January of 2009 on drunk driving charges in Normal, Illinois. Shepard was pulled over for speeding, and a subsequent breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol to be more than twice the legal limit.
Tupac Shakur
In March of 1995, Tupac Shakur had this mug shot taken by the New York Department of Corrections. Shakur had been found guilty of the sexual assault of a female fan, and served months in prison before being bailed out by Suge Knight. While in prison, Shakur released Me Against the World, becoming the only artist to have an album at number one while serving a prison sentence.
Carmen Electra
This grainy shot of Carmen Electra (real name: Tara Patrick) was snapped in Miami Beach in November of 1999, after police were called to break up a fight between Electra and her then-husband, Dennis Rodman. Electra was charged with misdemeanor battery, and taken in handcuffs to a a Miami-Dade County domestic violence unit. The fight was apparently sparked when Rodman saw one of Electra's ex-boyfriends on television and became irate.
Chris Tucker
The Rush Hour star was certainly in rush in April of 2005, when police officers in McDuffie, Georgia clocked Chris Tucker doing 109 miles per hour in his Bentley. He was charged with reckless driving and fleeing to elude after he didn't immediately pull his car over.
Chris Klein
Chris Klein was arrested in February of 2005, after police pulled over his BMW. Chris Klein was found to have a blood alcohol of .20 or higher, more than twice the daily limit. The arrest came just one month before Klein and Katie Holmes announced they had broken off their engagement after dating for five years.
Steve-O
Jackass star Steve-O (real name: Stephen Glover) was arrested in August of 2002 for one of the more unusual reasons out of anyone on the list. He had alleged stapled his scrotum to his thigh during a nightclub performance, causing him to be arrested for indecent exposure. It's still not as a dumb as drunk driving, the crime of many of the others listed here.
Steve McQueen
Steve McQueen wasn't quite able to make his own Great Escape when he got busted in 1972 for drunken driving in Anchorage, Alaska. He does, however, get bonus points for flashing the peace symbol. Namaste, Steve McQueen.
Ryan O'Neal
Troubled actor Ryan O'Neal was arrested in September of 2008, after a probation office visiting his son Redmond O'Neal discovered crystal meth in his bedroom. Both Ryan and Redmond O'Neal were hauled to jail. We're guessing that was not the best father-son bonding moment in history.
Robert Iler
Playing the son of crime boss Anthony Soprano on The Sopranos may have rubbed off a bit too much on Robert Iler. The young actor was arrested in July of 2001, after police witnessed Iler and three friends sticking up two teens for $40 in cash. Once arrested he was also found to be in possession of marijuana. Iller later stated he was unaware of what his friends were doing, and only found out about the robbery after the arrest.
Mischa Barton
This shot dates back from December of 2007, when Mischa Barton was busted on drunk driving charges in Los Angeles. The actress was spotted by sheriff's deputy "straddling" two lanes of traffic during the early morning hours. During her arrest, officers also discovered Barton was in possession of marijuana. Considering her character on The O.C. died in a car wreck, you'd hope Barton would take a bit more precaution.
Frank Sinatra
By far the oldest mugshot we've got, check out this portrait the Chairman of the Board as a young man. Frank Sinatra was busted in Bergen, New Jersey in 1938 at the age of 23, on charges of allegedly seducing a married woman. Yep, you could get arrested for that back then.
Nicole Richie
Taken back in Nicole Richie's wild days, this is a mug shot from when Richie turned herself in to serve a four-day-long jail sentence for drunken driving in August of 2007. Nowadays the mother of one (with another one due any day now) is more likely to be seen doing late night In 'n' Out runs than clubbing.
Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan has been busted a few times. This one is from her July 2007 arrest in Santa Monica for drunken driving and possession of cocaine. The cocaine was found when Lohan was patted down before being put into the clinker. Whoops!
Vince Shlomi
The face for products such as the Sham-Wow and Slap Chop, pitchman Vince Shlomi was in a Las Vegas hotel in February of 2009 when he allegedly paid a woman $1000 for sex. However, when he went in for a kiss, she bit his tongue and refused to let go. Shlomi and the woman then proceeded to punch each other in face until police arrived.
Terrence Howard
Terrence Howard is known for his intense performance on the screen, and he brings that same intensity to this mug shot. The actor was arrested in August of 2000, after allegedly assaulting a Continental Airlines flight attendant after refusing to return to his seat when the seat belt sign was on. The charges, it should be noted, were eventually dropped.
Paris Hilton
This is Paris Hilton's mug shot from June of 2007, when she turned herself in to begin serving time for violating the terms of her parole after a drunk driving arrest. We'd like to think we'd go a bit lighter on the make-up before heading into jail, but we guess if it's gonna be your last chance to wear lip gloss for a while, you really want take advantage.
Jason Patric
Apparently filming the movie The Alamo got into Jason Patric's blood. The actor was in Austin, TX at the tail end of the South by Southwest festival, enjoying himself on the streets, when police began to ask pedestrians to move along. Patric decided to make his last stand, allegedly shoving one officer. He was arrested for public intoxication and resisting arrest, though the charges were later dropped.
Mickey Rourke
Las Vegas cops arrested actor Mickey Rourke in November of 2007, after the actor was spotted making an illegal U-turn on his Vespa scooter. The officer noticed that Rourke had bloodshot eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol, so Rourke took a little trip to the police station. We gotta say, he does not seem that bummed about it.
Andy Dick
Andy Dick's rap sheet is impressively long at this point, but none have produced a mug shot quite as disturbing as this, from a July 2008 arrest. Dick was accused of sexual battery, after allegedly grabbing a 17-year-old girl's tank top and pulling it down, exposing her breasts outside a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant. When cops searched him, they also found marijuana and Xanax.
David Faustino
When news broke that the character that played Bud Bundy on Married... With Children was busted for pot possession, the jokes pretty much wrote themselves. David Faustino was arrested in May of 2007 in New Smyrna Beach, FL after police witnessed Faustino yelling profanities at his ex-wife in the middle of an intersection. When the cops discovered weed on the actor, the handcuffs came out, leading to this mug shot.
Akon
Now this is how you do a mugshot. R&B singer Akon turned himself in December of 2007, on charges of endangering the welfare of a minor following an incident when he tossed a young fan offstage after the boy reportedly threw something at him. Akon (born Aliaune Badara Akon Thiam) decided to get dressed up for the occasion.
Daniel Baldwin
If you're a Baldwin, getting your mugshot snapped is practically a rite of passage, but Daniel Baldwin had racked up more than all of his other brothers combined. This one, from November 2006, came after Baldwin "borrowed" an SUV without asking permission. After tracking him down, cops searched his motel room and found narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
Christian Slater
Christian Slater was arrested in December of 1994, after the actor attempted to board a plane at JFK airport carrying a gun. Note to actors: just because you play unhinged psychos doesn't necessarily mean you have to, um, act like one.
Dawn Wells
Dawn Wells, better known to America as the woman who played Mary Anne on Gilligan's Island, was snapped in this mugshot in February of 2008, after pleading guilty to reckless driving. Wells had been pulled over after her car was seen swerving, and police found marijuana -- including four half-smoked joints -- in Wells car. (We respect you too much to make a Mary Anne/mary jane joke here.)
Jay-Z
In December of 1999, Jay-Z (born Shawn Carter) was arrested by New York City police after he allegedly stabbed a record executive, Lance Rivera, in a Manhattan club. The hip hop mogul maintained his innocence, but eventually plead guilty to a lesser misdemeanor and served three years probation. Riviera filed a civil suit against Jay-Z, which eventually settled for $500,000 to $1 million.
Eminem
In this mugshot, taken from Eminem's June 2000 arrest on gun charges, we see the rapper looking very Slim Shady indeed. Speaking to The Sun UK in 2008, he said the moment of his arrest was a turning point for him: "I had to change my life. I think I made a decision when I was sitting in the back of a cop car. When I got through it, it was. I can't act like an idiot no more."
Diddy
Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested on weapons charges in 1999 after a shooting at a Bronx nightclub where he was partying with his then-girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez. Defended by Johnnie Cochran, Combs was acquitted on all charges. Known at the time as Puffy, he changed his name to P. Diddy after the trial. Speaking to Time, he said, "This whole thing has made me deeper."
Heidi Fleiss
Heidi Fleiss is no stranger to having her mugshot taken, and it shows in this one from February of 2008. Fleiss was in the process of being booked on charges of drunk driving, illegal possession of prescription drugs, and driving without a license in Nye County, Nevada, after police responded to a report of Fleiss driving erratically. Sidebar: this is a great looking mugshot. Who does the photography for Nye County, Terry Richardson?
David Bowie
On average, nobody looks good in a mug shot, but David Bowie is anything but average. The Thin White Duke was busted in March of 1976 for pot possession, along with fellow rocker Iggy Pop and two other men.
Anthony Anderson
Anthony Anderson was arrested in July of 2004 on aggravated rape charges after a woman, a movie extra, claimed that Anderson and another man had lured her into a production trailer and raped her while taking pictures. The charges were later dismissed by a judge who deemed the case "suspicious."

The children's television star was busted at an adult movie house for indecent exposure, effectively ending his career for over a decade. After making his way back into a few movies, he ended it again in November of 2002 after being charged possession of child pornography.
Phil Spector
Phil Spector was known for his extravagant hair, both before and after he was charged with the murder of a Los Angeles woman. However, after he was found guilty of second degree murder in June of 2009, he was forced to forfeit the wigs as he was admitted in to the general population at a California prison, and this mugshot was snapped during the process.
Tim Allen
Tim Allen was at the height of his success, with Home Improvement drawing in huge ratings, when he was arrested in May of 1997 for drunken driving. Allen was reportedly intoxicated to the point where he couldn't count backwards, and fell over while attempting to complete the roadside sobriety test. Allen is no stranger to jail; he was arrested in 1978 with a pound of a half of cocaine, and served two and half years in prison.
Tom DeLay
You can take the man out of politics, but you can't take the politics out of the man. In October of 2005, former House majority leader Tom DeLay's career was in shambles, as allegations of corruption piled up at his doorstep, but you wouldn't know that from his mugshot. The future Dancing with the Stars competitor flashed his pearly whites after turning himself in for a photo and fingerprinting at the Harris County police department. Looking good, Tom.
Rush Limbaugh

Corey Clark managed to make it to the finals of American Idol, and he shows the same competitive fire by making it on to our list of mugshots. He was arrested in October of 2002, after Kansas police officers responded to a domestic disturbance at his home, charged with a whole slew of misdemeanors, including four counts of battery against a police officer. According to police, Jackson grabbed the guard around the neck and began to throw punches. He was found to have a blood alcohol content of .14, almost twice the legal limit.
Johnny Cash
Given his songs, you'd probably think Johnny Cash served hard time. In reality, while the country legend was popped seven times for various misdemeanors, the longest he was ever in a jail cell was overnight. This mug shot was taken from after an October 1965 bust in which Cash was caught in El Paso with a suitcase full of speed and pain pills.
Vanilla Ice
Vanilla Ice, who now prefers to go by Robert Van Winkle, was arrested in January of 2001 for getting into a domestic spat with his then wife, allegedly pulling a chunk of her hair out of her head. He was sentenced to family counseling, but apparently it didn't take; Ice was arrested for domestic violence again in 2008.
Kid Rock
Kid Rock is all smiles after getting popped in October of 2007 for allegedly beating the crap out of a man at a Georgia Waffle House. Kid Rock (born Robert James Ritchie) and five members of his entourage were all arrested on charges of simple battery. Luckily, Waffle House has security cameras, so the fight is now on YouTube.
Suge Knight
Nobody ever accused record executives of being nice, but Marion 'Suge' Knight takes that to a whole new level. The rap mogul had this mugshot snapped after an August 2008 incident, in which he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face while he was driving. When cops showed up at the scene, they saw Knight with a knife in his hand, standing over the woman. During the booking, cops found ecstasy and hydrocodone on his person.
Shepard Smith
Fox News Channel anchor Shepard Smith is apparently ready to go to any lengths to get a story, including aggravated battery with a motor vehicle. Edward Furlong
Edward Furlong has been a long-time PETA activist, which might explain the oddness of his actions that led to his arrest in September of 2004. The Terminator 2 star was in a Kentucky grocery store with friends, smelling strongly of alcohol, when they began to yank lobsters out of the store's tank. He was arrested for public intoxication.
Larry King
In December of 1971, future broadcasting legend Larry King was working for a high-powered financier when he got caught on the wrong end of a deal. The Game
Here's The Game (born Jayceon Taylor) in a mugshot taken in March of 2008, after reporting to a Los Angeles-area lockup to serve a 60-day jail sentence. The sentence came about after The Game was busted for possession of a firearm in a school zone, following a pickup basketball game in which The Game punched a man and then pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot him. Sounds reasonable.
50 Cent
While many rappers brag about their criminal exploits, 50 Cent definitely has a real record to back up his boasts. The hiphop star, born Curtis Jackson, had this picture snapped in August of 1994, after being sentenced to jail for felony charges of selling heroin and crack cocaine. Now he partners up to create Vitamin Water flavors.
Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne shows off some of his facial tats in this mugshot from January 2008, after the rapper (real name: Dwayne Carter) was arrested in Arizona on felony drug possession. The arrest came about after police stopped his charter bus, and discovered cocaine and ecstasy, while two other passengers were busted for pot possession.

In February of 1998, Axl Rose was attempting to fly out of Sky Harbor Airpot in Phoenix, AR when an employee asked to take a look into his bags. Rose flipped out, cursing and shaking his fist at the employee, and was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace. More seriously: man, what happened to Axl Rose? In 1991, he was one of the hottest dudes in the world. Here, he looks like a hardass assistant manager at a local Applebee's.
T.I.
Rapper T.I. has done a couple of mugshots at this point, but we like his early work the best. Here he is after a September 2003 arrest, in which Florida police charged him with battery on a law enforcement officer, trespassing, and disorderly conduct, after he and his entourage allegedly raised a ruckus at a local mall. He was sentenced to 18 months probation following the incident.
John Mayer
After Fall Out Boy member Patrick Stump was busted for driving without a licence in August of 2009, John Mayer took to Twitter to challenge TMZ to find his own mug shot from 2001 for the same offense, promising to donate $25,000 to the charity of TMZ editor Harvey Levin's choice. It took the gossip only 24 hours to dig it up, and Mayer gamely gave $12,500 apiece to pet rescue non-profits Pet Orphans of Southern California and Ace of Heart.
Jack White
Jack White isn't afraid to use his fists, apparently. The White Stripes frontman was arrested in December of 2003, after he allegedly pummeled Jason Stollsteimer, singer for the band the Von Bondies. Keasler was understandably upset.

Scott Stapp, best known as the lead singer of Creed, had this mugshot snapped after he was arrested in July of 2002 on charges of reckless driving. Bobby Brown
If you want a mugshot of Bobby Brown, there's a whole slew of them to choose from. We like this one, from January 2003, after Brown pleaded guilty to a 1996 DUI incident and sentenced to eight days in jail. "You think jail scares me?" his look seems to be saying, "I lived with Whitney Houston."
Ol' Dirty Bastard
The most eccentric member of the Wu-Tang Clan, Ol' Dirty Bastard (also known as Big Baby Jesus and Dirt McGirt, though born as Russell Jones) had this mugshot snapped in 1999, after being accused of making terroristic threats in 1999 at the House of Blues.

This mugshot stems from a March 2005 arrest on the singer, after police pulled him over and determined after a field sobriety test that he had been driving while intoxicated. His publicist blamed it all on "doctor-prescribed medication."
Leif Garret
It's hard to imagine that the guy in this mugshot was once one of the biggest teen heartthrobs of the 1970s, but it's true. Leif Garret, former teen idol, was busted in January of 2006 after cops found him to be in possession of heroin. Oops.
Glen Campbell
Looking every single inch like a mean grandpa, country singer Glen Campbell was busted in November of 2003 on drunk driving and hit and run charges. Not to make light of drunken driving, but Rip Torn looks like the world's most awesome grandpa in this mug shot. It was taken when Torn was arrested in December of 2006 and charged with drunk driving after colliding with a tractor-trailer in Westchester, New York. When police arrived on the scene, Torn refused to take a breathalyzer test, leading to his arrest.
Jane Fonda
In November of 1970, Jane Fonda was already facing charges of federal drug smuggling when she was arrested again in Cleveland for allegedly kicking a police officer. She fought the officer after being stopped at U.S. Customs and was found to be in possession of a large amount of prescription pills. All charges were later dropped.

Yasmine Bleeth
In the 1990s, Yasmine Bleeth's poster adorned many a dorm room wall, and the Baywatch babe was watched by millions as she slowly, slowly ran across sandy beaches. By the time this mugshot was snapped in September of 2001, however, Bleeth is just not looking ready for her close-up. Michigan police busted the star for cocaine possession, which eventually netted her two years probation and 100 hours of community service
Matthew McConaughey
Matthew McConaughey has pretty much made a career of playing the ultimate bro, and his arrest in October of 1999 was appropriately bro-tastic. After a neighbor complained of music blaring from the actor's house in Austin, police arrived to find McConaughey nude and playing the bongos. They also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Shocking!
Yanni
Yanni, a pianist known for his soothing New Age music, wasn't calming any nerves when he was arrested in March of 2006 after an alleged domestic abuse incident. Florida cops arrested Yanni (real name: John Yanni Christopher) after the musician allegedly struck his live-in girlfriend and ordered her to vacate his waterfront mansion. According to police, he also verbally abused the woman, calling her a "c---" "whore," and "garbage."
Hugh Grant
Hugh Grant tends to play slightly sheepish charmers, and that quality is on full display in this mugshot from June 1995. Grant was busted by Los Angeles vice officers, who charged the actor with misdemeanour lewd conduct with prostitute Divine Brown. Appearing on Jay Leno shortly after, Grant simply said, "I think you know in life what's a good thing to do and what's a bad thing, and I did a bad thing. And there you have it."
Michael Jackson
The King of Pop was popped in November of 2003, after allegations of child molestation surfaced. Michael Jackson was booked at the Santa Barbara Country Sheriff's office, which snapped this mugshot of the very-startled looking pop star.
Nick Nolte
This is the Platonic ideal of what a celebrity mugshot should be. Nick Nolte, looking way beyond disheveled, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol in September of 2002 and charged with driving under the influence. An officer spotted the star's Mercedes weaving across lanes of traffic. A spokesperson for the CHP later said that Nolte was "drooling" at the time of arrest.
