Horrific moment female worker is pinned to the floor by knife-wielding 'rapist' before a 'guardian angel' bursts in to save her

A Russian man has been hailed as a hero after saving a female shopworker from an armed man who was 'attempting to rape her'.

Alexander Vysotsky was walking past a shop in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, when he saw a young female clerk being attacked by a man, and dashed in to pull him off her, and held him down until police came.

The horrific attack was caught on CCTV and shows the woman, known only as Ekaterina, 28, suddenly attacked by a man with a knife in the shop.

The footage shows the victim bravely resisting, backing away towards the door and even grabbing the blade of the knife.
He is seen forcing her to the ground and pulling at her skirt.

Vysotsky later said this was the scene he saw thorough the glass door as he walked past on his lunchbreak.

He told local news that he saw 'a man between a girl's legs' in a 'disturbing' manner - believing he was 'attempting to rape' her.

Vysotsky burst into the shop and pulled the unnamed attacker off the woman, and held the attacked down with help from a friend Mikhail Svityuk until police came by taping up his limbs.

He has been hailed a hero in the local media, but said; 'anyone would act the same way in my place.

'I do not consider myself a hero. I think Ekaterina did well. She did the right thing. She took the attacker near the door and grabbed the blade of the knife.

'I'm afraid if he had got her in a back room, she would not have got away with only a hand injury.'

But Ekaterina, a mother of one, identified herself and posted a message thanking him for saving her.

'We need to know our heroes faces,' she wrote. 'I'm deeply grateful to you for my rescue - my guardian angel.'

In a police video, the suspect, an unnamed 29-year-old, confessed to attacking her, claiming that 'the devil made me do it'.

'I do not know why I did this, the devil made me' he said. 'The girl took away my knife. How could she? I don't know why I did this.

'I'm guilty... she took away my knife, I just wanted to take it back... and it turned out that when I was taking back the knife, she cut her hand.'

The man, who faces two years in jail, added: 'A girl took away my knife, can you imagine?'
