Boy, three, dies after accidentally shooting himself in the head in his family's South Carolina apartment

A three-year-old boy from South Carolina has died after officials say he accidentally shot himself in the head inside his family's apartment. 
Deputies with the Richland County Sheriff's Office were called to the Wyndham Pointe Apartments on Brighton Hill Road in Columbia at around 6pm for a report of a shooting.
By the time they arrived, the toddler's family had already rushed him to the hospital.

Officers at the scene were told by a witness that the boy had accidentally fired a gun, with the bullet striking him in the head, WISTV reported.
The child was pronounced dead at the hospital an hour after the incident.
The boy has not been identified by the authorities.
It is unknown at this time how the boy was able to gain access to the loaded firearm used in the shooting.

As of Thursday morning, no one has been arrested or charged in connection to the boy's death, but officials are still investigating, according to WLTX.
