Federal spending to prop up the stock market and not protect regular Americans is a policy choice.
Much of government is will and desire to act, not material restrictions. Almost 5 trillion was given to the stock market, inflation hasn’t spiked.
Unfortunately most of that "wealth" is in notional stock prices, it is not money, therefore it is difficult to tax until it is sold.
