50 Thought-Provoking Messages On The London Underground Service Information Boards Written By 2 Masked Guys

 Every day, millions of commuters use the London underground system to travel around. For many, it's a part of their daily routine, no more inspiring than a walk to the bathroom. The majority of travelers have their faces buried in books and ears shut off from the world with headphones. But surprisingly, as it turns out, you can come across some really inspiring messages while on your way to the tube. Some of them encourage people to speak out on invisible illnesses, some are brilliantly clever puns, while some show the day's temperatures that are "100% accurate, 41% of the time," with Beverly Hills being scorching hot at 90210.

But who's behind these little poems and lovely messages? Turns out, it's a masked duo: two guys that started the All On The Board project back in 2017 while working at North Greenwich station. "We are station assistants for the London Underground and we were working at North Greenwich. Craig David was performing at The O2 Arena on that evening and two of us were singing some Craig David songs, came up with a little poem for Craig David fans, and decided to write it on a Service Information Board. It started from there," they told .

Many of their messages and poems have been widely shared on social media by many people—singer Katy Perry included—while All On The Board's Instagram account has almost half a million followers. "There are 2 of us at All On The Board. N1 (No one) and E1 (Everyone)," the duo told . "We used these names to be anonymous and would wear the masks whenever we write the boards. We write the boards before and after work and sometimes during our meal breaks."

N1 and E1 told us that the time that it takes to write a message "all depends on the length of what’s written on the board."

"All the poems and quotes are original," they say. "Sometimes they just come to us very quickly, spur of the moment and they make take 5-10 minutes. Some take up to 45 minutes to an hour to write on a board, especially if we draw a picture on them."

"The actual poems can vary in the length of time to come up with. If they are for concerts, we listen to the band’s or artist’s music, if we are unfamiliar with some of their songs or albums, and then we write them," the masked duo revealed . "We genuinely love all genres of music and love writing the concert poems. For health conditions, we do a bit of research on the condition we are writing about and then write them."

"Although we work for TfL [Transport for London—Ed.] in our full-time jobs, we do All On The Board on the side just out of passion, a love for being creative, and most importantly for us, to try to let people know they are not alone, make them smile, and to raise their spirits," N1 and E1 told us. "Other staff have seen how happy the board can make people and they just let us get on with it."

"We (N1 and E1, All On The Board) can work at many stations all over London to assist with engineering works, events, station refurbishments, and various different reasons," the guys behind the viral project told. "Wherever we work on the day we will try to put up a board before we start at that station or after we have finished. Or maybe during a meal break. When we are working at a station for concerts, we go to the station the night before we are working there and write up the board. The concert boards will mainly be at North Greenwich for concerts at the O2 arena and sometimes at Wembley Park, Brixton, Stratford and other stations where there are concert venues nearby."

"We honestly did not expect to have almost 700k followers," . "We just do it for fun or to raise awareness for mental health and health conditions and to try to make people smile. We never expected this to happen."
