New York sheriffs find more than 200 people at an illegal fight club in a Bronx warehouse and the organizer faces a $15,000 fine for violating COVID restrictions

New York sheriffs raided an illegal fight club in the Bronx on Saturday night, finding more than 200 people inside the warehouse and charging ten organizers with violating a series of coronavirus and licensing laws.

The gathering, promoted as Rumble in the Bronx, saw hundreds of people pack into the warehouse - flouting social distancing guidelines, drinking and smoking hookahs.

Two loaded guns were confiscated at the scene and 'a significant amount of marijuana', the sheriffs said.

They entered the warehouse on Coster Street, in the Hunts Point area, at 11:15pm and found a large crowd 'watching and participating in an amateur fighting event.'

'Patrons were also observed drinking alcohol, smoking hookah, and not wearing face coverings while failing to social distance,' the sheriff's office said in a statement.

Michael Roman, 32, CEO of Rumble in the Bronx, was among the 10 arrested and faces eight charges including unlawful assembly and conducting a prohibited combat sport, NBC News reported.

Roman's Instagram promotes fights in the street and in cages.

His website is currently promoting a December 5 'Rumble in Orlando', with tickets on sale for $50.

He faces a $15,000 fine for breaking social-distancing orders, illegally warehousing alcohol and running an illegal fight club.

The others arrested alongside him face similar charges and large fines.

New York sheriffs are having a busy time trying to enforce restrictions designed to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

In the early hours of Friday they found 205 people illegally partying at a Chelsea venue.

And on election night, deputies raided a fight club in East Williamsburg, after video of the underground wrestling event began circulating on social media.

An illegal Halloween party that drew more than 500 revelers to a Bronx warehouse was also broken up by sheriffs.

  1. Great job there, NYPD. Never mind the riots, looting and torching, raping and drug assassinations, get those fight clubbers off the streets
