'He is part of this problem': AOC says Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook are 'partially responsible' for the Capitol riot and says that Congress should hold tech titans accountable because 'they allowed it'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) assigned partial blame to Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg for last week's riot on the Capitol, highlighting qualms she raised last year when challenging the social media's attack on disinformation.

Speaking during a Friday town hall meeting, Ocasio-Cortez said that Facebook was 'trying to do as much damage control as possible.'

'But they knew,' she asserted. 'Not only did they know but they allowed it.'

AOC brought up the Congressional hearing where Zuckerberg and other big tech giants testified about how they were tackling disinformation leading up to the 2020 Presidential election.

'We knew this was a problem,' she said. 'We knew this so far out that pre-COVID, I asked him specifically about election disinformation and its ties on Facebook to White supremacist organizations, and the ties that 'fact-checking organizations' had to other White supremacist outlets ... and he wouldn't answer. So, there's a very clear link here.'

She declared of Mark: 'He is part of this problem. And Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook bear partial responsibility for Wednesday's events, period.'

Following the Capitol riots, Facebook suspended Trump's access to his page.

Speaking with Reuters, Sandberg said that Facebook had already removed QAnon, the Proud Boys and mention of #StoptheSteal off of the platform.

'Our enforcement's never perfect, so I'm sure there were still things on Facebook... I think these events were largely organized on platforms that don't have our abilities to stop hate, and don't have our standards and don't have our transparency,' she said.

AOC's remarks come as Facebook has announced that it will review all inauguration-related events and remove ones that violate site policies. They will also block events created in the U.S. by foreign based accounts and pages.

'We're monitoring for signals of violence or other threats both in Washington, D.C. and across all 50 states,' Facebook said in a statement, CBS News reports. '... as we did in the weeks after the presidential election, we are promoting accurate information about the election and the violence at the Capitol instead of content that our systems predict may be less accurate, delegitimizes the election or portrays the rioters as victims.'

  1. Why didn't Facebook and Twitter get taken down by AWS? Silicon Valley has formed an illegal cartel. They are a racket. They are in a mutual pact to use their services to destroy any competition that threatens them. Google and Apple will remove apps. Twitter and Facebook will de-platform such companies and promote propaganda against them. AWS, Godaddy and others will censor you at a deeper level. Clearly they are working together and that is an illegal trust.

  2. Remember that socialist regime that stole Germany's political identity during the first half of last century? It ha a really hardcore group of Anticom (anti-communist) stormtrooping terrorists called the Brown Shirts. A. Schicklegruber couldn't have become Fuherer without them. Kalikommie Harris can't become pResident(BWO A25) without her chief Brown Shirt AOC.

AOC is a true believer, as was the top dog of the Sturmabteiling, Ernst Roehm. Neither Harris nor her backdoor boy, Biden, need an extremist true believing charismatic looking over their shoulders once they start eliminating extreme left participants of their own party. Her and her other two off-brand sisters will be neutralized in short order after the coup is completed. Dear old Nancy will make sure of that.

    1. AOC is not a socialist. However, like a stopped clock, she may be correct sometimes, even if for the wrong reason.
As for your German analogy. please do a little more research on the political situation in Germany. All but one of the parties listed here: https://www.electoralgeography.com/new/en/countries/g/germany/weimar-germany-legislative-election-1928.html were socialist to some degree. Here is a more complete list of the 1932 elections. https://infogalactic.com/info/German_federal_election,_July_1932 Again, the majority of parties were "socialist. As Friedrich Lenz explained in his 1952 book "Worm In The Apple" Hitler`s success was due to him having a vision and a plan, while the other parties had only rhetoric.

    2. Hitler was a "National" socialist ... but still a socialist (with an emphasis on "T" for tyrant) the same way that Stalin was a benevolent(not!) Communist dictator. Do you (still) believe that 'Murica is a democracy (never the original intent) or actually a casually covert corporate oligarchy?

For the purpose of what I intended to say, the facts I expressed are effectively truthful.

  3. By the same reckoning, this woman is so irritating, she is GOING to incite violence, so we should pre-emptively remove her from society, restrict her internet access, shadow ban. If she is sincere, she would call for this herself.
