  1. It makes perfect sense.

Once you realize that public school (just like some churches) exist to indoctrinate rather than to educate, you will understand WHY they do what they do. Do not expect logic, do not expect reason, or justice or compassion -- and for damned sure don't expect to learn anything that will make you a better individual. The purpose, the only purpose, of public schools is to force you into a sort of intellectual catatonia, a state where you can respond to official doctrines, but not become conscious enough to think for yourself. You are there to be molded into a cog, a gear, or (for the lucky few!) into an automated subroutine of the Master Plan.

What can you do when you find yourself caught in the machine of so-called "modern education"? Go grey, blend in, don't make waves, and PRETEND it makes sense. Educate yourself when they aren't looking. Read, read, read! Read books from the past. Be VERY skeptical of anything written since 1980 -- or maybe 1900. Keep your eyes open for other students who also suffer from the same habit of independent thought. Make them your friends. Above all, remember that you are a social animal, but you are NOT part of a hive. You are a free individual and remember that you are the world's greatest expert on how you should live your life. You can do it!

    1. They exist to indoctrinate now, with the addition of all kinds of warm and fuzzy courses, like social studies and drama. Learning hard sciences like math, chemistry, and physics, is not indoctrination. Understanding geographical formations and where countries are, is not indoctrination. Reading for comprehension is not indoctrination. As a geezer, I can tell you that in the 50s to mid 60s my teachers taught how to think, not what to think.
