  2. Well, no. That's not what did it. There are a lot of factors, but the BIGGEST are that the government began pushing women into the job market, increasing the labor supply and driving down wages (just like they do now by bringing in illegals). The government became involved in financing houses, allowing banks to loan to people with weak credit which drove the price of houses up. The government began to do the same thing with financing college, and the result there was the same as well. And the government began to mandate ridiculous requirements (some made sense -- some were way too stringent) on auto safety and pollution driving the price of cars up.

    I'm seeing a pattern.
