Gov. Andrew Cuomo's personal attorney admits he 'may have' touched state trooper's back but that the two interpreted the gesture differently: Calls the AG's damning sex-pest probe an 'ambush'

Gov. Andrew Cuomo's personal attorney admitted on Saturday that he 'may have' touched state trooper's back, and said he will address the allegation 'soon.' 

Attorney Rita Glavin made the startling admission during an interview with Pamela Brown on CNN on Saturday - days after a damning report by Attorney General Letitia James found the governor sexually harassed at least 11 women.

 Glavin also blasted the report as an 'ambush', and insisted 'not all of [the accusers] say Governor Cuomo sexually harassed them'.

The trooper, who served on the governor's protective detail, told investigators Cuomo ran his fingers down her back while standing behind her in an elevator.

Another member of the protective service unit who was allegedly present in the elevator did not see the interaction but said the trooper talked about it after the incident, the report said. 

Cuomo also allegedly ran his hand across her stomach and hip as she held a door open for him, leaving her feeling 'completely violated,' the trooper claimed.

'The governor may have very well touched the state trooper's back. And she may have understood it one way and he understood it another way,' Glavin said.

Glavin added that she does not believe any of allegations described by James' office amount to criminal conduct - and claimed that some of the 11 women may even be lying to investigators. 

One of the women Glavin accuses of lying is Lindsey Boylan, Cuomo's first accuser who came forward with her allegations late last year, launching the cascade of accusations from other women. 

Boylan, a former aide who served in various roles, said Cuomo once kissed her on the lips after a meeting and alleged he asked her to play strip poker on a flight in October 2017.

'I believe that Lindsey Boylan is lying. She has lied in the past,' Glavin said, adding that her allegations came two weeks after she decided to run for election for the role of Manhattan Borough President.

'What we know from the report about Lindsey Boylan is that she began tweeting in December of 2020 and giving false representations about the manner in which she left employment in the executive chamber.'

Boylan had claimed in a post to Medium that 'parts of a supposed confidential personnel file' had been leaked to the press, which Glavin claimed not to be true as she worked to discredit the former aide's claims.

'Her personnel file was not released. Three memos were released that detailed the circumstances of her departure,' Glavin said.

Cuomo's lawyer claimed that Boylan had implied that she left her role because of a toxic work environment.

'In truth and in fact, there had been several complaints made against her. There was a recommendation by the Empire State Development Corporation to terminate her,' Glavin said.

'She was brought to a meeting where she was counseled on her behavior because of complaints from several employees. She resigned and then four days later asked to get her job back. She reached out to the governor's top assistant to see if she could speak with him about getting her job back and he didn't get back to her.'

Glavin also firmly denied the accusations from another woman, identified as Executive Assistant 1.

That woman has claimed that Cuomo grabbed her breast under her blouse while she was at the Executive Mansion, grabbed her butt during hugs and would ask her whether she had cheated or would cheat on her husband.

'He did not grope her,' Glavin said.

The attorney general's report notes that Cuomo testified that he had not kissed Executive Assistant #1 but he did regularly hug her. 

He claimed in testimony that it was Executive Assistant #1 who was the 'initiator of the hugs' while he was 'more in the reciprocal business,' according to the report.

Cuomo testified that he 'would go along' with tight hugs that Executive Assistant #1 initiated because he did not 'want to make any one feel awkward about anything.' 

That woman filed a criminal complaint against Cuomo on Thursday, after the release of the attorney general's report.

'Any time he touched me I felt like it was inappropriate,' she said in her testimony.

'He was my boss, let alone the Governor of the State of New York, so I definitely felt he abused his power and definitely knew that he had this presence about him, very intimidating.'

Cuomo himself has already denied against some the accusations from the women while admitting to others.
