GOP Whip Steve Scalise calls Stephanie Grisham 'pathetic' for 'false' claim that Melania Trump refused to visit his family at the White House when she gave them a TOUR

House Republican Whip Steve Scalise called former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham 'pathetic' after she claimed that Melania Trump refused to visit him at the White House in 2017 after he'd been shot.

Grisham wrote in her salacious new tell-all 'I'll Take Your Questions Now' that Scalise and his family had  taken an impromptu trip to the White House shortly after the Louisiana Republican recovered from being hot at a baseball practice in 2017.

Grisham, who also worked as the first lady's press secretary, wrote that staff asked Mrs. Trump if she wanted to visit the Scalises, gathered in the Blue Room.

'No, I already said hello,' Melania said, apparently referring to when she and the president had visited Scalise in the hospital, as first reported by Insider.

Grisham said that Trump's response had become an inside joke among staff. 'Whenever the first lady said no to something, we would say to each other, 'Well, she already said hello!''

'This is how the fake news media machine against President Trump and @MELANIATRUMP works,' Scalise wrote on Twitter in response. 'This never happened. My family went to visit the White House while I was still in the hospital and were graciously given a tour by President and Mrs. Trump.'

The congressman included photos of both Trumps along with his wife and kids at the White House.

Scalise sounded off: 'This is another pathetic attempt by a disgraced former staffer to tell lies in order to sell books. If her publisher or a single outlet covering this story had done any fact checking, they would've learned it was fake. But they didn't because it fits their fake narrative.'

'The fact they need to stoop so low to make up verifiably false stories about a shooting victim and his family to paint a false picture of the Trumps tells you everything you need to know about their credibility.'

'Hi sir. All due respect, this isn't the visit I write about in my book, as you were still in the hospital,' Grisham said. 'I would never take advantage of the tragedy that befell you, but nevertheless, understand your need to defend the Trumps at all costs.'

Scalise said he never went to the White House for any other visit.

'Really? What's the date? I never went for an unscheduled visit with my family after I left the hospital.'

Grisham stood by her claim in a statement to Fox News.

'I respect Steve Scalise and wouldn't expect he'd know about a conversation that he was not party to,' she said.

'Perhaps he is conflating two separate events. Mrs. Trump chose not to greet him in the Blue Room after he was discharged form the hospital even though she was just upstairs. I found this to be disrespectful to Congressman Scalise and his family – his tweet does not contradict what I wrote in my book,' Grisham added.

'I'll Take Your Questions Now' is available to the public as of Tuesday.

Grisham served as press secretary for the first lady at the time of the alleged incident, from April 2017 to July 2019, before returning to the role in April 2020 and splitting with the White House entirely on Jan. 6, 2021 after the Capitol riot.

She served as White House press secretary from July 2019 to April 2020 during which time she drew much condemnation for not holding a single press conference.

'Stephanie didn't have what it takes and that was obvious from the beginning,' Trump said in a statement on the book.

'She became very angry and bitter after her break up and as time went on she was seldom relied upon, or even thought about. She had big problems and we felt that she should work out those problems for herself. Now, like everyone else, she gets paid by a radical left-leaning publisher to say bad and untrue things.'
